Who we are
As a husband and wife team, we started this company in 2010 to produce functional yet quirky designs for the home that we wanted to buy in shops but could never find. All of our products are made with high-quality 100% organic cotton. Our aspiration is to deliver durable and attractive products which will endure heavy use.
Since launching our first product line, our customers have been our inspiration bringing joy into their kitchens and homes is our main aim. We hear from our customers that they often buy our products in multiples tuck one away for future use, one for current use and one to give as a gift.
Space 1a aims to give back to the communities we live and work in and to this aim donate 10% of all our profits to a nominated charity of the month. This helps us to sleep more soundly.
Our Products
Our current product line now includes tea towels, cushions, tablemats, oven gloves and aprons all made with 100% Organic Cotton. Space 1a products are hand silk-screened and made with organic materials which are durable, attractive and environmentally friendly.
We plan to expand the range in 2012, keep an eye out for travel accessories and expansion of our kitchen home wares.
Why Organic?
Almost a quarter of the world's insecticides are used in cotton farming and are detrimental to the environment and toxic to the farmers and communities who produce the textiles. Residues from chemicals used to grow fibre and process textiles can sometimes be found in final products which are known to cause allergies, skin rashes or respiratory problems. Studies have also shown that social and working conditions in organic textiles are of a higher standard typically than non-organic textiles. You have a choice as a consumer, why not choose Organic?
